Quartz Peak
Favorite hike on the challenges! I would highly recommend coming to the trailhead from the airport road. I took the airport road to the trailhead and had no problems in my chevy suburban. However, on the way out after hiking I missed the turn for the route that passes the airport and the road conditions were a lot harder. I ended up turning around and finding the turn off for the airport route I was so nervous about the conditions on the other route. The actual hike itself is absolutely incredible. I got there at 8 am and made it to the summit a little before 10am. Overall, my Fitbit logged the hike being 8.3 miles and took me 3.5 hours. I only saw 3 other groups on the trail. At the top there is a box with a little note book that has messages from others, very fun!
Thanks for the tip about the airport road, I will give that a try when I come back to try this hike in the future… I started down W Riggs Rd and it was so slow going (and I had other delays before) that I ended up bailing about 1/3 of the way to the TH. Congrats on bagging the peak, looks awesome!
