Rising Above The Smoke on Bachelor

This was an impromptu hike. I got a text from a friend last night inviting me to join them on Mt Bachelor this morning. The AQI was 60 this morning, so we met up at 7:30 and headed up the mountain.

NOTE: Mt Bachelor has closed the “normal” route from the West Village due to construction on the new Skyliner lift. According to their website, this will be closed all season, so you can park off the road near the gate to Sunrise and hike from there.

It’s actually close to the “old” trail detailed on SoCalHiker—and a little shorter.

Air quality remained decent throughout the hike, though the views were smoky. It was starting to heat up as we finished. I might’ve preferred to start even a bit earlier.
