Also on this hike
Took my MIL on her second hike ever. We had a late start getting down there so I was prepared to get back in the dark.
At the trailhead we ran into a lady whose as going to hike solo, so she came with us, I’ll call her KG.
Started about 2-2:30pm. We ran into a few people on the first stretch up. One was a dad packing a little. He said the rocks were a little difficult with the little but not ideal.
We ran into 2 ladies coming down and we were going up, they pointed us in the right direction, there were 3 paths to choose, 2 wide and 1 narrow. It was the narrow.
On the second portion the brush gets really brushy around the path, and there some rock scramble areas. We were nearing the top, chasing the sun and got turned around, we ran into a solo young guy coming down who pointed us in the right direction.
Made the peak by 5pm. We did not find the USGS marker but did find the peak sign. Watched the sun disappear and it get cold quick. Quick snack at the top, photos, put our jackets and lights on and down we went.
We were definitely the last ones up there. Would have hit the second peak if we weren’t in the dark.
Made it back to the car by 8pm.
Exchanged info with KG to hike with her again.
Overall liked this hike and would recommend.
