This was my first time hiking Piestewa Peak. It was definitely a heavily populated trail, which is not my cup of tea. My sister and I visited on a Saturday evening for a sunset hike. Luckily, most people chose to go back before it got dark. We brought our headlamps and waited for the sun to set before making our way back down. It was definitely a short and sweet hike. Nice leg burner! Great views of the city. If I lived closer, this would be an awesome after work hike. Glad to finally visit this peak that I’ve heard so much about.
Beautiful sunset pics! Yes, it gets crowded, but there is another route. When I hiked it two weekends ago @roppelaar and I took the Dream Draw Trailhead. You still meet up with the “main” trail for the last part, but up until that point it’s pretty uncrowded, even on a Sunday morning. It is more than twice as long though. 😉
