Hiked with a group

We had a group of 30 hikers, 11 of whom were registered for this challenge. Our adventure began at the entrance, where we stopped by the restroom for some group photos. A short distance up the trail, we veered right onto the Five Oaks trail. This single-track path winds through the mountainside with a series of switchbacks before reconnecting with the main trail. After enjoying the views at the top and spending some time taking it all in, we made our way down the main trail, skipping the single track on the descent.

The vistas along the way were breathtaking, and I especially appreciated the informative displays on each side of the trail that helped identify the distant mountain peaks. On the summit, there was also a stunning mosaic opposite the picnic table—a perfect spot to pause and soak in the scenery. While there were a fair number of other hikers on the trail, it never felt too crowded. The weather was cool and breezy, but the sun kept it comfortable.

What made this hike especially memorable was the fantastic group dynamic. It was so rewarding to watch people who had just met strike up conversations and start building friendships—myself included. The camaraderie added a whole new layer to the experience. Afterward, several of us continued the fun at Julian Beer Co., where we enjoyed lunch and a refreshing beverage, savoring the good company and the satisfaction of a day well spen
