The Chicken Loop on Mount Diablo

For the second time in my life, I hiked the Six Peaks Loop on Mount Diablo. For the second time, my sportwatch registered over 5,000′ of ascent, despite AllTrails’ claim that it’s “only” 4,600′. But for the first time, it was pointed out to me that the route is in the shape of a chicken.

It was a beautiful day to do this strenuous hike. It was windy, even a little chilly, along some of the ridges, but there were no clouds, and the wind had cleared any haze out of the Bay Area, so the views were great.
