    Howdy all!

Now that we have actual snow in SoCal, I was curious what everyone’s favorite winter hiking gear is. It could be a great pair of pants you got at REI, some poles that have saved you on more than one occasion. Curious what folks would never leave home without, and what has kept you warm when there’s a suddenly windy spot on the trail.

For me, it’s been my REI Co-op Rainier Rain Jacket. That thing blocks wind like a dream.

One of my most-used pieces of winter gear are my Kahtoola Microspikes. The work with everything from my Altra Line Peak trail runners to boots, and they don’t take a lot of space. In the right conditions they are like 4WD for your feet.
