    Hey all,

I’m wanting to hike Mt. San Antonio next month, the second or third weekend, but I am concerned about the heat because desert conditions are way worse than in LA. Even in the mornings and evenings, I know it can be really hot.

My question is, would September be a good time to do this hike? Has anyone hiked this one around this time who could offer advice/suggestions?

    Thanks!

Hi! I just hiked San Jacinto this past weekend and the weather was gorgeous! I would think it should still be nice in the next couple of weeks but mountains are always fickle! Check the Palm Springs Aerial tram website. They have a weather report for what it’s like at around 8000 ft.

Another resource I like is mountain-forecast.com

Here’s a link for Mount San Jacinto at 8,203′: https://www.mountain-forecast.com/peaks/Mount-San-Jacinto-Peak/forecasts/3293

You can pick the summit elevation to see the difference.

Are you taking the tram up, or another route?

I’d be going from the Marion Mountain trailhead. The tram is actually going to be closed for a month or so for maintenance during that time. But thanks for the resource; I’ll check it out.
