Rose Peak – Sunol parking
I hope this is a good place to ask this. Does anyone know if the Sunol Regional Wilderness parking area is open early? I’m hoping to start around 7:00 or 7:30, but I’m worried the park may not open til 8:00.

The close the gates at night and the park opens at 8:00am. Parking is $5.
You could take a chance and get there early. Sometimes they open the gate a little before official open time, but no guarantees.

Good to know! Thanks. It’s about an hour from my house, so I’ll try to arrive right at 8:00.

How did it go? Did you get your wilderness permit at Sunol or ahead of time?

I got my permit in January knowing I would do this hike at some point this winter or spring. I decided to do Sizer this month because of the park opening hours (Henry Coe is always open). I’m doing Sizer this Friday 2/25. I’ll do Rose Peak next month when the park is open a couple hours later each day.
