I completed the 13-mile loop of Peralta Trail to Dutchman's Trail to Terrapin Trail to Bluff Springs Trail — The hike was strenuous after ascending Flatiron the day before. Past the saddle the trail was a little icy, but it did not create a problem for a man from Michigan. The trail was easy to follow, with a few short sections that were more difficult to find. Overall it was a challenging hike with a lot of bouldering/steep ascents, loose rock and over 7,000 feet of elevation change, but I would definitely recommend it. I nearly stuck my head into the arm of a saguaro cactus and long pants were definitely helpful to protect against the thorny plants crossing the trail, so be aware of nearby sharp objects while hiking. Make sure to take more water than you think you need and give yourself 6- 8 hours to complete it.
