San Gorgonio Peak

June 16th, 2019

3 take aways from this hike; and then some:

  1. Summited Baldy two days ago, now this one, San G. I am so ready for Mount Whitney (saturday) Lets freaken go! Pretty hyped, especially since I killed my time from last month summit by an hour.
  2. I had crampons in my bag, but none of the snow warrant me to take them out. Some people may disagree the last mile, but so many people have paved the snow so much I felt comfortable climbing up with only my trekking poles. If you want to feel safe, then I would recommend microspikes or maybe just an ice axe.
  3. It was so hot, ohmygoodness. I applied to much sunscreen, but I could feel that sun from the moment it hit me like at mile 6. Start early!!! I started at 5am.

Extra notes:

  • I am really tempted to camp at high creek camp, so many people seem to enjoy that camp site!
  • Parking lot gets packed, especially on the weekend. Get there early.
  • Trail was almost in perfect condition. Id say by next month the snow should be gone.
