THE LAST PEAK OF THE NEW ENGLAND SIX-PACK OF PEAKS CHALLENGE – COMPLETED!!! WOO HOOOO!!!

In contrast to the Mt. Monadnock hike we did two days earlier, this hike was hot, humid, and challenging. The temperature was in the mid-80s; it was a high humidity day; and hiking UP the black-rated – and steep – Gould trail was a challenge, in particular “The Steps” section. OMG. Our t-shirts were soaked by the time we reached the summit. Hiking down the blue-rated, not-so-steep, Thunderbolt trail, was a welcome reprieve.  The hike down was fun trail. It was a nice clear day with nice views at the summit.

We are done!!! I've enjoyed participating in the New England Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge this year and hope to do it again next year.

Thank you!

  1. Ack! Correction! I got my trail names/directions wrong! As Steve points out in his trail log, we hiked the loop counterclockwise – so up Thunderbolt and down Gould! Doing it this way was a challenge. Shorter route but very steep! That dang “Steps” section….
