We were super lucky on this hike. The decision to start out early at 4:30a was right and we were rewarded with hiking basically all the way to the top in the shadow of the mountain. What a treat!  The last mile to the top of this trail is one of those where it look a lot closer on the map but in reality it is not “just around the next corner”.  We spent about 20 mins at the top and headed back down. Glad for the early start because as we descended the temps rose. This trial is mostly exposed due to the fires that went through years ago, the lack of shade is a bummer, however the wildflowers that are able to grow now is incredible. I'm not 100% sure but it think mostly what we saw was huge amounts of goldenrod.

This hike is challenging but the two plus flat miles in the middle makes it fun after all the work that you put in on the way up and down.

Definitely a hike again trail.

  1. Were the road and parking lot clear and navigable? Wanted to come up Forsee but concerned may be compromised from Hilary’s massive flash floods in the area.
Did you notice any washouts or sketch stream crossings? Thanks!

    1. There are potholes and a few big rocks but if you go slow you will be fine. I have a car and made it no problem. The road is packed down and hard. It’s also a short drive. You”ll be ok. Have a great hike!!!
