This is by far the most majestic trail. The scenery is incredible, especially Manzanita Flats, I almost felt like I was walking through a painting. My friends and I were consumed by our beautiful surroundings, stopping several times to take pictures. The warm weather made the climb to the peak an extra challenge, we stopped quite a few times under shady areas to cool off and catch our breath. Luckily there was a small stream of cool water available to wet our cooling cloths on the way to the summit…was a big help. We made it to the peak late (3pm), so we literally ran half the way down fearing we would end up hiking to the trailhead in the dark. Halfway through our descension we caught up to a group of boy scouts that reassured us we would make it back down before sunset if we kept up with them, thank God for them! We made it to the parking lot as the sun was going down. I definitely learned my lesson with this experience, don’t lose track of time and stay focused on the goal of reaching the peak and making it back down within reasonable timing.
