We decided to hike Belknap Crater for extra credit, since we had already hiked Maiden Peak before the fire closure. Interesting hike through the forest, then through lava fields then upward on a sandy incline! Beautiful views on a clear day. Six Pack of Peaks + One!!!

    Fantastic job!
    How did the pup do with the pumice? I’m heading there this weekend and was debating whether or not to bring my dogs.

      Hi Jeff,
      In answer to your question about my pup and the pumice. She did ok until the last mile down. We checked her paws and they were slightly red, not bloody. I carried her until we got out of the pumice, which she didn’t like, lol! I massaged her feet with olive oil when we got home. She was ready to hike again the next day! This weather has been amazing! Go get your hike on!
