My friend Emily and I wanted to be out hiking in the late afternoon, evening so we started this hike about 4pm. A little bit of blowdown here and there but it was easy to navigate around. The last mile and a half-ish was snow and the trail was a bit harder to follow up high but it added variety and fun. Use one of the navigational Apps and bring a map, microspikes and trekking poles if doing this anytime soon and it will be no problem. The summit was awesome!!

  1. Great idea hiking in the afternoon on these long summer days! What time did you finish the hike?
BTW, only one other challenger and her partner have hiked Black Crater so far this year, and they haven’t logged it yet. So you’re the first to log! 🙌

    1. Thanks! I think we got back to the car around 9ish; we didn’t see anyone else on the trail. I love it when that happens!
