The road to Bonanza Peak includes about two miles of very rocky terrain, so definitely take a SUV or at least a crossover to get there! I have a RAV4 and I made it fine but there were definitely tricky spots.
Once you get to the trailhead it is an easy climb to the saddle and across to Bonanza Peak. The challenge came when we were about 200ft below the peak and the trail disappeared. AllTrails was leading us nowhere so we scrambled up the last 200 ft to make it to the summit. the trail to descend also disappeared so we made our own way down to rejoin the trail.
This hike was about 10 miles out and back. We added about a mile searching for the way to the summit. The hike was not difficult at all and the views were spectacular! We also went at the perfect time to view fall foliage.
