we took a car to the dirt parking lot about 4.7 miles from the summit. We started at around 8 and were in shade until the turning point at the first radio tower. Afterwards there was basically no shade for the rest of the hike hence my title Burning Backs. But other wise it was an easy hike that took around 4 hours to complete.
