It was a beautiful sunny day on Mount Monadnock with views for days. It was my 6th time summiting this beautiful pile of rocks. Also, it was the only time I did not experience snow, sleet or rain and that was absolutely magical. The may flies were horrendous and made below tree line a struggle.

    Any recommendations for dealing with the bugs. Planning to hike this mid-May. Are the biting flies what’s the worst?

      They were bitting and very annoying. I’d suggest loading up on spray before heading out — once you get above tree line they start to disappear.
