Our final hike to complete the six pack, coming full circle this year since we started the challenge with Cucamonga Peak. As it was our last one, we decided to go the extra (two) miles and complete the side trail up Big Horn Peak as well.

We enjoyed the great weather we had for our hike with it being neither too hot nor too cold (other than the wind at the peak). As the start of the hike, there were a lot of bugs around, even with bug spray, that served as an annoyance, but this was balanced with some beautiful autumn colours. However, after a couple of miles the bugs disappeared and the rest of the hike was thoroughly enjoyable. We quickly made it up to the Icehouse Saddle, finding this much easier than we remembered from our Cucamonga hike. From there we headed towards Ontario peak until we came to the fork in the track and headed up towards Big Horn. This was the only difficult part as the trail isn't clearly marked all the way up to the peak and we had to stop a couple of times to make sure we were following the right trail, however we eventually found the right way to the top. After this the rest of the hike was pretty straightforward, coming down Big Horn was easier to follow the trail, and then across to Ontario Peak wasn't too stressful. Other than walking back into the bugs for the last couple of miles, the hike back down was uneventful and after 14.2 miles and 7.5 hours we had completed the six pack challenge! We appropriately celebrated with a beer at the Mt Baldy Lodge.
