We hit the trail at 0600 and there were already a lt of people there, we had to park in the third lot. As we headed up the trail it got busier. The crowd was pretty diverse with a lot of unprepared folks that had little to no water. I ended up handing out a back up bottle of water to one guy who was clearly heading into heat exhaustion (I always carry a couple of spare bottles in addition to my hydration pack). There were a lot of people with no understanding of trail safety to etiquette. There were a number of trail runners who gave no warning that there were passing and in one instance I almost knocked one guy off the trail when partner tried to warn me they were coming and I stopped to look and I stepped into their path.
In short, I would highly recommend doing this on a weekday and avoid the traffic.
Outside of the crowds it is a fun hike with great views.
