Great hike, however the AZ heat was still too much for me at 3pm, which required a few extra stops, so it took longer to get to the top, but I made it – and super proud that I did! I broke my ankle last year, and did have a little trouble with it bothering me on the last part up and the last part down, probably because I haven't done a lot of hiking since. The trail for the most part was just like using a stair master- up, up, up! However, I liked the sides of the trail. Yes, there was more loose gravel and dirt, but it felt like more of a steady incline vs straight up, up, up. Also, glad I had good hiking shoes on, it definitely helped. I was able to pick up speed on the way down, and keep up with the group better, but there were a few areas that posed a lil more challenging due to my ankle and not being long legged. I definitely recommend a camel pack vs carrying a water bottle – you need your hands at some areas to climb up/down. Overall GREAT time, GREAT group, I got a GREAT view at the top, and once we were done, my ankle wasn't great, but totally a GREAT workout.
