Late start with anticipation of coming down in the dark, came prepared. The hike truly starts at the street parking imo. That being said, the hike up the road to the picnic area was a grueling start, especially for those of us coming in from San Diego elevation of 425’. The trail was easy to navigate, mostly single trek, along a rapidly running stream. Waterfall right before the trailhead. There was a stretch of rocks that looked like the result of an avalanche that we noted we definitely wanted to avoid before dark. The hike up was accompanied by beautiful views through out and mountain daisies in full bloom. The peak was chilly and we made for a quick turn around due to losing light and the cold. Ran/hiked out and still ended up in full darkness (despite the full moon the trees hid the moonlight) for about an hour. Overall a pleasant experience. Definitely wouldn’t want to do this hike in the heat, so grateful for the later start, just come prepared (as always).
