2nd time heading up to Griffith. I very much enjoy south loop for all the switchbacks, makes you put in work! lol. So started my adventure at 9AM. At 10AM made it to Echo Overlook. I didn't stop for a break yet, wanted to push myself to the South Loop scenic rest area. At about 10 till 11, I hit the rest area. Decided to have a snack! This is such a great view as you can see the whole ring of Mt Charleston mountains (Mummy, fletcher, Charleston, etc) & all the houses and roads leading into the trailheads. Its so amazing looking at all of them, and all of the distances knowing we accomplished climbing all of these peaks! I finished my snack and packed it back on to finish up the switchbacks and hit the saddle. The last couple switches have such an incline, and when you reach the saddle its such a breath of relief lol! During these last couple of switchbacks there were maybe about 4 patches of snow left. Very manageable, but just crazy to imagine what this trail would be covered in it! I hit the saddle at about 12PM, and took a half hour up the last incline to the peak! Griffith ranks higher on my list than Fletcher, as you do get the 360 unobstructed views. Just puffy clouds, mountains, and that thing called civilization somewhere way out there. It was really beautiful this time of year as there were so many cute little yellow flowers all of the rocks and butterflies floating about. Really makes you appreciate how amazing this feat and place is. I am the snack queen, so I sat it down and ate my lunchbox lunch of an apple, cheese & crackers, & pb sandwich lol! Can't beat the lunchtime views. I hung out for about an hour at the peak, and packed it up at about 1:30PM.Took me just under 2 hours for the whole descent. Just another beautiful Saturday hike to be thankful for, and #3 out of 6 on my peaks!!! Almost there!! Cheers to a summer in Mt. Charleston!
