This was our second time completing this hike and it still did not disappoint. We camped at the trailhead the night before so we could get a 4:45 start. We were up to the summit of Gray's at around 7:15. It was a bit more difficult than I remember. Hike does have a lot of loose rock in some sections, making for a challenge when hiking by head lamp. While we were there we decided to make our way over to Torrey's Peak as well, hit that summit right around 8. Made it back to the car around 9:50. Did look like some weather was coming it, however, never really made a difference. Was cold and windy in spots, easily between 40-45 degrees. It was not very busy, but it was an early fall Monday and I wouldn't expect big crowds. Some people even heading up the road around 10:30ish. I made it up/down the road in a Toyota Rav 4 and it worked out ok. I would certainly recommend 4WD and decent ground clearance, especially getting later in the year.
