Started our hike at 6am from the closest parking lot. Took multiple breaks to eat and enjoy the scenery and summited by 11:30am. I would not have been able to complete the hike without my spikes and trekking poles. The hike back was very difficult as the snow was softening and very deep. Amazing challenge and my first fourteener! Thankful to have shared it with my best buddy and dog Bailey.

  1. Congratulations on your first 14er, Shelby! That’s awesome, especially considering the snow!
You are the first challenger to log Grays Peak in 2022, too. Which peak is next for you?

  2. Wow! Thats a lot of snow! Great job, congrats on your first 14er, to both you and Bailey<3 What kind of dog is Bailey?

    1. Awe thanks Emma! She’s a chocolate lab! She’s quite the mountain dog and loves to hike. How are you making out with the challenge? I have only done Gray’s so far.

      1. Aww, chocolate labs are the sweetest! I moved to Tennessee so unfortunately I’m not near a challenge but I’m thinking of attempting some of the SoCal ones when I go back to visit family! I am also attending a wedding in New England in the fall so maybe I can squeeze one of those in there! But for now, I will just have to be happy living vicariously through everyone else’s hike logs! 😀
