For a brief moment yesterday, Mason and I were the highest people in CO – we completed our Mt. Elbert hike!

We got yet another absolutely perfect hiking day. Perfect weather, no issues, friendly people everywhere, and an epic sense of accomplishment.

While 14ers.com ranks this as a Class 1 hike, we are going to go ahead and call it something more challenging than that. As an accomplished ultra runner, I’m no stranger to difficult trails. While the trail is beautifully maintained etc. it is definitely not an easy hike. The ascent gets pretty steep in many parts and is a bit longer than advertised – my Garmin measured 10.2 miles round trip from the trailhead parking lot.

In all, this was a great day and offered the BEST views. It was fun to look back across Leadville and find Mt. Sherman, the hike we did a few weeks ago.

Next up – Yale and Grays!
