Never hiked this trail before, so wasn't sure what I was getting myself into. Overall trail was rough, primitive, with multiple water crossings, and beautiful views. Definitely a moderate + trail. This morning it was a nice 25 degrees at the start of my hike, right after sunrise. Sun really lit the canyon up with fiery gold. Trail was damp from recent rains and water seeps, which meant lots of ice, especially in the shaded portions. Was slower going to watch footing. Trail was manageable with the icy conditions until right after final water crossing, as you head up the switchbacks towards the saddle. Maintained 3-4 points of contact and checked each step before putting my full weight as the ice was challenging to see at times and covered all the rocks. Only fell once going up! Reward at the top was seeing Weaver's Needle and behind it snow on the 4 peaks.
