Long road to Santiago Peak

Trailhead:

Maple Springs

Type of Hike:

Day hike

Trail Conditions:

Trail in good condition

ROAD:

Road rough but passable

Bugs:

No bugs

Snow:

Intermittent snow – not hard to cross

Started our 24 mile (out and back) hike just inside the Maple Springs gate.  Recommend parking further down the road to where the gravel starts (cuts out about 3 miles).  Hike was a steady incline to the top with decent views but heavy 4X4/dirt bike action the entire way.  Unfortunately it was cloudy so no views at the top and the Santiago sign was missing but temp was cool and sun felt great.  Some snow patches towards the top but no traction needed to pass.  Finally, ran across a random crashed truck on a side trail (anyone know the story?).
