Trailhead:

4 mile creek

Type of Hike:

Day hike

Trail Conditions:

Trail in good condition

ROAD:

Road rough but passable

Bugs:

Bugs were not too bad

Snow:

Intermittent snow – not hard to cross

Started at 5:45am. Hike up past the gate was steep as it starts right at 12k ft. But incline was not too bad as I was able to keep walking with minimal stops. Came to the hilltop mine area and crossed over a snow field. Would recommend microspikes for going up. On the way down people were glissading it. After snow field you get kind of a break before hiking up more steep terrain. The views here were stunning. Someone once said that Mt. Sherman was “the most underwhelming of 14ers” but perhaps this years record snowfall made a difference because everything was green, lush, wildflowers blooming everywhere with still snow capped mountains in the distance. We pushed on to the flat area and walked the last few feet to the summit! It was amazing! My 12th 14er summit complete!
