I’ve lived in Ramona for 19 years and this was my first hike up to Potato Chip Rock. I chose to don my 40-pound weighted vest to ‘up' the challenge, it was slow but steady up to the top. A quick set of 20 weighted push-ups before heading back down actually lowered my heart rate!
I use a Whoop Strap 3 to continually monitor my heart rate, activity, recovery, and sleep, I've found it to be the most accurate wearable device I've owned to date. My activity strain goal was 13.2 which I hit on the way down, ending up with a total activity score of 13.5 out of 21.
Since I tackled this hike mid-day on a Wednesday, parking wasn't too bad and the trail really wasn't that busy. There was however quite a line at the top for people waiting to take their photo on Potato Chip Rock…I settled for a selfie with the rock in the background 🙂
The views were great even if it was a bit hazy, unfortunately, you also get up-close and personal with all the cell and comm towers mounted at the top of the hill ????????♂️⚡️☠️

@jeff can you fix the date for this Hike? It should be January 5th (not February). Also, I didn’t realize the feature photo would crop as it did, If I upload other photos to “my photos” is it possible to make one of those the featured image? Thanks!
@coachdale, all fixed now. Looks great! 40 lb vest eh? You are a beast!
Haha, I’m a personal trainer and usually hike with the vest, I’m only glad that I chose to leave it behind when I did El Cajon Mt! LOL. Thanks for fixing the log, I appreciate it 🙂
