My mom always tells me to stay away from cliff edges, so I typically do not tell her about a hike until it is completed. She definitely did not like this hike. Much of the hiking is along cliff edges or at least very steep slopes (the level of exposure is high). The climbing on rock and cables is great fun and the overall hike is a descent challenge. Personally, due to the exposure and steepness, I would not recommend this hike for a newbie unless they are with a more experienced hiker to act as a guide and/or coach. A small mistake in foot placement or trail selection along the backside of the mountain can result in serious injury. It is quite amazing that portions of the hiking/climbing structures have been in place for around 90 years.
