My group and I started this trail at 5AM, this was our first early hike where we would be using headlamps, so that was excited. There were many different groups there so I think that helped a little too.
The trail was very obvious and not very difficult to follow, there was some rock scrambles but again, nothing too serious to not see the clear hike path. my friends and I wanted to do the 12.3ish trail that was on All Trails, but even with the downloaded map we followed the ice house saddle trail and ultimately found the Ontario peak sign, this the 14miles round trip. We were talking to other hikers at the peak and they said the shorter one was up Chapman trail, but the map said we were going the right way. All in all, it was a tough hike for us because we aren’t used to the many switchbacks but to be honest, we took many breaks along the way to catch our breath but I’m still very proud of us for pushing through to the peak and finally the last 2 miles back to the parking lot was something that seemed never ending. We did end up seeing other peak challengers up there so it was nice to talk to them about their next peaks and stuff.

This was definitely one for the books and we definitely earned our in n out after this 14 mile hike! On to the next one!
