An early start meant mostly cool temps, especially the upper half, where it was also windy–too windy for the bugs, apparently.

It looks like you started before sunrise… what time DID you start? How was the parking at the trailhead?
Thanks, Jeff! I departed the TH at 4:15 am, and there were only a few others parked at that time, and I only saw five other hikers on the way up. By the time I returned, about 11:30 am, there were no vacancies in the lot.
