took a day off to hike this before the heat arrived.   Left the trial head at 6:00am and it was cool in the canyon until about 7:30.  Above Kelly Camp it got hot and hotter.    The lupine above Kelly Camp are spent but this would be a beautiful late spring hike through the lupine fields.  Right now the bees are frustrated by no flowers,  buzzy, and annoyed.     This was my first trip through Ice House Canyon and I fell head over heels in love with the place.  I will be back but likely not on weekends with crowds.    I saw 1 person from Ice House Saddle to the peak and several more on the way down.  I was stunned at the number of people hiking up to the Saddle in the afternoon heat – be careful out there, it is getting hot and dogs do not need to be hiking in the afternoon heat.
