Holy Cow! This hike was one for the memory book-rated difficult, and lived up to it. Worth the drive, the effort, and the challenging rock scampers assisted by cables. We found this trail well marked, well maintained and lightly trafficked on a mid-week jaunt. Also, going after noon, the first 1/3 of the ascent was shaded, as was the final 1/3. The cabled sections were equal parts fun and eye-popping! Very technical, also, lots of loose shale makes for vigilant foot placement. The sweeping cactus-strewn vistas and crags are truly a feast for the eyes. Gloves were well recommended for cables as well as handholds on rocks. When you go, be prepared for heights, exposure and a real sense of accomplishment once you complete this challenge.
