The sun was out and the weather was good. It was sunny but not too hot. Although the flowers weren't in full bloom yet there were spots along the trail near the trailhead where poppies had already bloomed or were beginning to bloom.  Surprisingly there were not too many people despite the fact that this hike took place during a holiday.  There was more than enough parking and although there were several hikers out on the trail, it did not feel crowded at all.  Several hikers who were out said they were doing it for the first time and many of them didn't bring gloves for use on the cables.  At the summit I met a group of hikers who were also doing the Arizona Winter Six-Pack of Peaks and they already had done Piestewa and Camelback so this was Peak Number 3 for them while it was my first peak for this round of the challenge. They asked me about the peaks in the Summer Challenge and I answered as best as I could and confirmed to them that Humphreys would be a long hike. Another group asked about the Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge and I and the other group told them about it.  On the way back I met a group at the Saddle who asked about how long would it take to get to the summit. I told them the details and added that they had the time to make it there and back but they decided they did not want to go any further. The rest of the hike back down was uneventful. The hike took about 5 and a half hours including the 1 hour break at the summit and the multiple breaks I took both on the way up and the way down.
