This is the only hike I have ever felt like quiting. It's way too far secluded to be on this challange and the road is not safe for even AWD vehicles. I was the only hiker out all day and there were only a handful of hikers in the past week. It has a southern unprotected exposure the whole way. The mountain is like all the west valley mountains boring. With the reward of looking at Maricopa and Ahwatukee? The hike is pure uphill but doable, unless you parked 6 miles from the trailhead so that your car didn't get stuck after driving 1.5 to get to the middle of nowhere. This is a pointless and dangerous hike, not fun or rewarding. I do not recommend. Luckily it was only 85 degrees or I would have ran out of water five miles earlier. I cannot hate this hike more.

I almost hesitate to mention this, but you could’ve skipped Quartz and hiked Wasson instead. 😉
