Third times the charm for Gorgonio! I had a permit back in July, but since there was still snow at the peak we postponed until August. Then in August we had a permit the weekend of Hurricane Hilary and there were thunderstorms predicted on San Gorgonio, so we cancelled the permit once again. This time I was determined to go. One week before this hike, my ankles were swollen and possibly sprained. So I made sure to rest, use ice, and take it easy all week. I was nervous about doing 19 miles with an already hurt ankle, but I wore a brace and kept a good pace and everything was great! The hike up was very enjoyable, and the last 1.5 miles from 10000 to 11500 were tough, but we took our time and so we felt great. It was awesome to be at the tallest peak in Southern California! On the way down, we were definitely ready to go back to the car so we could get some food. We stopped by the Mexican place about 5 minutes away from the trail head and enjoyed a delicious meal! What a great summit. Only 2 more mountains for me!
