Incredible trip – Gorgonio feels like 4 different biomes over the 20ish miles. We decided to backpack to test our equipment for Whitney.  We hit the trailhead 8:30 Saturday and it was hot 🥵 gorgeous hike, rushing stream and lots of bugs the first 3 miles. We made it to High Creek with intention of dropping gear and summiting. Between the bugs and the heat we decided to pitch camp and go in the AM with lighter packs. Sunday we started up around 7:30. There was a light drizzle but it was delightfully cool. The rain and wind picked up as we climbed higher and by the time we were 1.5 miles from the peak it was driving rain, 40 degrees and 20mph wind. It got worse before it got better – lots of unprepared hikers that had to turn back. Gusts were 45mph and with rain and windchill it felt like 25 degrees. We made it though! Great trial for all our equipt and helped identify some gaps (warm we gloves, rain pants, etc). Overall 10/10 for the hike but not sure I’ll summit next time 🙂

day 1 – 6 mi: 5hrs

day 2 – 14.4 mi: 10 hrs
