Peak #2 – Ontario Peak

Out of all the hikes I had ever hiked, I had NEVER hiked one starting at 2pm…..and boy it was hot. I had to stop for small breaks here and there on the accent to the saddle. I would say “good morning” to a lot of people hiking down but everyone was fried that they wouldn't say anything to you but I know they could hear it, oh well.

I had never hiked this or any others starting at the Icehouse Canyon TH so when it said saddle, for some reason I honestly thought there would be a small hut of some sort…but obviously not. Took a long needed break and had a snack and then moved upward to Ontario Peak.

Once I passed the saddle it was so quiet, I think I saw one other group of 2 on the way up but they were setting up camp. When I reached the summit it was so pretty. The views of the blue mountains were just breathtaking. Photos below do not do it justice. It was so pretty up there. I spent about 30 minutes up top and no one else was in sight. It was like people had forgotten about Ontario Peak for a bit and the silence on that peak was unimaginable.

The decent was another story. Because of the heat I was left exhausted and my ankles would give out at certain points and would roll them pretty easily without knowing. Since I started later in the day that meant night was coming and nightfall came and of course you gotta be prepared. Put on my light jacket and my headlamp and made it down. I will say because of how tired I was the last mile of the hike felt like the longest 22 minutes of my entire life but of course once I saw the parking lot it was a nice feeling.

It wasn't part of the hike but on my way home at 9pm I hit traffic and I just wanted to get home and sleep haha
