Decided to bang out the two most popular summits in Phoenix back to back. Started with Camelback at the Echo Canyon Trailhead and summited while still dark and on descent we passed the group that was taking up the Christmas tree that stays up at the top during the season. I was even able to get a picture with Camelback Santa near the second rail as him and his crew made their way to the summit. Left Camelback and made the short drive over to Piestewa Peak to get on that. Ironically it was one of the best times that I've ever logged on that trail. I was thinking that my time would be slower because of the first hike, but we, my friend Gabe and I, set a good pace until we tackled that final scramble to the summit where the bronze marker rests. Ken was up there getting ready to descend as he had just finished playing his drum. I totally wanted to hit South Mountain after this to bang out Hua' Pal, but I couldn't get Gabe on board for a 3rd hike and we had carpooled that day. This was a great outing though.
