Loved the views from the Devil's Backbone. We went up that way and down the ski but trail. Definitely preferred the ascent, but this hike was beautiful from start to finish. Trail was a little overrun presumably due to memorial day crowds, but it came in handy when my hiking partner and I got separated on the descent where the trail splits repeatedly. We wound up on either side of a ridge and couldn't see or hear each other. Thankfully Tall Guy appeared on the ridge and helped us reconnect!! Whoever you are, thanks for sparing me the miserable hike back UP the trail to figure things out.

Thanks! Yes, we usually do. We hike at pretty different paces though, and I think we got a little too engrossed in navigating the steep descent through all that loose rock on the ski hut trail. But, a good reminder!!
