After yesterday’s never ending hike, we wanted something simpler. So, we took the Gaviota Peak trail, which is a fire road. Parking at the trailhead is $2. The reviews are it’s a never ending climb, which it is, but it was more gradual than yesterday’s Grass Mountain hike. We were tired, but we made it up in about 3 hours. The views were pretty and we were lucky that again we had a cool day with some fog blocking the sun. Bugs were around in some sections so wear bug spray. On the way down, we stopped at the Gaviota Hot Springs, which was muddy and you had to be careful of the poison oak on that trail. I paired this Peak with Fig Mountain’s Santa Barbara Shandy, which is light and fruity for this local hike for people in the area. We celebrated after by going to the Gaviota Beach to hang out and get some salt water on our legs. We did it! 6 peaks!
