Had the opportunity to hike up to Ontario Peak on Sunday May 7, 2023. It was a test of physical and mental endurance but we were able to summit and return down the mountain safely. The trail was traveled by many people from icehouse canyon to the saddle. Micro spikes and trekking poles are highly recommended to get to the saddle after 2.5 miles. From the saddle to Kelly camp a helmet, crampons, and ice axe are necessary. After Kelly camp snow shoes are highly recommend. There was a lot of snow for May in Los Angeles.

This was the third time I attempted this hike and I am happy we did not have to retreat because of inclement weather and equipment failures.
