Rainy start, but came prepared.
First 1.66 miles is a wide path, pavement, then rock/gravel. Trail runs along the rushing stream. All water crossings are by well constructed bridges (5). At the fork, up to the peak, things became more precarious. Slick conditions, good traction shoes & poles recommended. There are well carved paths that run adjacent to the trail to avoid some of the more technical sections. This is a moderate hill climb. Once you’ve reached the meadow the view at your back is awe is inspiring, take it in before continuing up to yet another section of the trail that doesn’t match the previous three. The ground cover appears to be wild daisy’s yet in bloom (I’m from San Diego so not familiar with local flora). The trees were sprinkled liberally throughout, though don’t count on them for shade. The peak was glorious. I didn’t know which way to look. No geological marker that we could find. Did grandeur the previous day and felt the views here rivaled those of grandeur. Parking was easy. Would rate moderate if conditions were dry and I wasn’t contending with the wet/mud. Way down was much easier after drying up for just an a couple hours. Saw a garter snake on the way out, thankfully no rattlers.
