Great Hike!
We parked at the Sierra Azul open space parking on Hicks road and Mt Umunhum road. It starts as a flat fire road but quickly goes uphill. We started our hike around 9am just after a rain storm had finished so it was muddy and damp but without rainfall. This was nice for the tempurature but narrowed the views. The last road (trail labeled Barlow i believe) before the final 4 miles of switchbacks is pretty brutal. It can be steep and was tough in the mud. Otherwise, the hike was an easy 8 miles or so with an amazing view at the top where the giant building is. We were lucky that, when at the top, clouds began passing giving us glimpses of views. Ill be reminded of this one every time i see the box at the top of that mountain when looking up from San Jose.

I like the name of your hike log, very clever! Its fun to look up at that box while driving around the valley after you’ve been to the summit and remembering what it looks like from up there!
Thank you Emma! Ive got alot of time on these hikes to think of clever titles.
