This was the second time I hiked Peralta Canyon. The hike is moderate, elevation is steady, terrain is light. Trail is easy to navigate. Wore my light hiking shoes instead of rugged ones. IYKYK.  There were quite many people with dogs there today! “Main hike” is up to the Saddle; afterwards you have a choice to carry on to the base of the “needle” or make right across the small “ridge” to get closer to the needle for a better view. Last time I tried to get to the base and it was quite exhausting 🥵 I also wore shorts last time. Considering vegetation, I suggest pants. Just trust me on this one.
So this time I made a right and went across the ridge. It adds maybe 30 min total to the hike, but you get much better view of the needle and Superstition Wilderness 🙌

Also, try to locate the spot where Godzilla is “hiding” 😉

Also, saw some mountain goats today!

To get to the trail you’ll have to drive about 5-6 miles off the highway, but the road is suitable for all vehicles.

Best time, in my opinion, to do this hike before sunrise or toward the afternoon (when the sun is directly above). From 8–1 the sun is at the same angle as it is at I-10 Westbound from 4-7 during Summer 🫠 IYKYK
