Began my hike up Elden at 6:30am. I was watching closely for any closures due to the Pipeline Fire that sparked the day prior. I was able to complete my hike, and found out they had actually closed the trail at 8am, which is the time I made it up to the top. The wind was insane.. up to 40mph gusts, a few times I needed to stop and brace myself. In addition to that I was pelted with some flying gravel a good couple times. It was definitely a new experience for me on this trail, but was the best hike yet on Elden. This trail never disappoints.. beautiful all around.

  1. Lucky you! You made it under the wire. Hopefully the Pipeline Fire will be contained and extinguished in the coming weeks and this and other peaks will reopen.
