I considered making it a longer hike, and saving a few bucks, by starting at the Soda Creek Rd entrance along the PCT, but I noticed shattered window glass when I got out of my car and decided a minimal entrance fee is much cheaper than having my car broken into!  Besides, if I wanted a longer hike, I could just add more trails!

I didn’t want a longer hike. This was hard!  It’s only about 2.8 miles up, but it’s UP!  Over 2000ft up!  It’s a very well maintained trail, but there are a few downed trees.  Pretty easy to get around.  I might’ve just been tired from three days in a row of hiking these mountains, or maybe it is a hard climb.  Either way, made it to the trail end sign. No intentions of climbing the dome, I was alone and also maybe afraid of heights.  I did climb up a bit higher, but I was hugging those rocks the entire way!

I had the top to myself, but started seeing more and more people on the way down, including another fellow 6 Packer.  She has also completed hikes for all the other California challenges!
